The Red Cross Needs Your Help

Blood Drive To Be Held at Cloud County Community College

Due to Hurricane Matthew, The American Red Cross is urging all eligible blood donors to give in order to help Hurricane survivors. This opportunity will be available for everyone tomorrow, Tuesday, October 18th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union. In order for students to donate blood you need to contact Shane Britt at or you may call him at 785-243-1435 ext. 340.

Some tips for donating blood are as follows:

  •          Maintain a healthy iron level in your diet by eating iron rich foods, such as red meat, fish,      poultry, beans, spinach, iron-fortified cereals and raisins
  •          Get a good night's sleep
  •          Drink an extra 16 oz. of water before you donate
  •          Eat a healthy meal before you donate

There are other ways you can schedule an appointment for donating blood. You can simply visit or call 1-800-RED-CROSS or you can download the Red Cross Blood Donor app on your web enabled smartphone. There are several times open for donating blood, so if you would like to donate your opportunity will be Tuesday October 18, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union.
