KVCO is the Recipent of Multiple KAB Awards

88.3 is the place to be!

This year members of KVCO, our student-run radio station, submitted their work to KAB, the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Student Broadcast Awards. Colleges throughout the state of Kansas compete for these awards in the areas of audio, visual, and written media.

Taylor Rumsey won 1st place for her research paper about Youtube. Rumsey's paper traced the history and popularity of YouTube.

Bryanna Cook and Zoe Merz placed 2nd with their Seussical the Musical promo. This promo featured rhyming skills Dr. Seuss would have been proud of.

Chris Chambers won honorable mention for his video that captured the gym floor renovation. This time-intensive video included interviews with coaches, a time-lapse of the old gym floor being pulled out and the new one put in, and photos of the gym floor throughout the years.

Rumsey and Daniel Douglas recieved honorable mention for their promo of Arsenic and Old Lace. The haunting music and character-driven vocals were a hit with judges.

John Bott, Bryce Lievens, and Tyler Marr received honorable mention in the Entertainment Category. These three had an agricultural talk show where they discussed everything from pork belly prices to ideal soil for corn.

The winners will be attending the KAB awards on April 5th in Emporia, KS.

Congratulations to the all of the radio’s hard work and for their winnings at KAB!
